Stay with me on this one…
One year ago I quit my job.
I was single, debt-free and running a successful nonprofit organization. Life was good. I felt like I was living a success story that you hear about online. I had freedom, security, and was doing work I was passionate about. Great, right?
Fast forward a year and everything changed. I accumulated nearly $40k in student debt from entering two Masters programs (Theology and Education), had to dissolve my nonprofit, and had to go back to roughly the same job I walked away from a year prior (how humiliating!). Debt. Loss of a life-long dream. The humbling reality that I never should have quit my job in the first place.
But that’s not all. I met the woman of my dreams, too. On the positive side, she is AMAZING. Smart, beautiful, funny, outgoing, generous… I could go on and on… 🙂
The unfortunate part is that she, like myself, is deeply in debt too. While that doesn’t do anything to affect my feelings towards her (I’m still crazy about her, actually), it does bring me to the reality that I’m going to have to start dealing with the issue of debt in my life, especially if some day I have to pay off her debt too.
So, it’s time to do something crazy.
I’m making a resolution to pay off my $40,000 in debt in one year. I just turned 28 and by the time I turn 29 I’d like to have that $40k wiped away.
Crazy, right?
Absolutely.
But I believe I can do it. And this blog is going to document the steps I’m taking to make that dream become a reality.
A year from now, when people look back on this blog, they will see how I did it: How I started from scratch and got the girl, payed off $40,000 in student loan debt, and started a business that changes the world (more on all of those to come in later posts).
I’m beginning with the end in mind.
After all, is there really any other way to succeed?
This is a blog about my journey towards taking action, living a remarkable life, and kicking my debt situation squarely in the face.Â
I hope you’ll stop back often, click on things, and hopefully find useful information on how you can live the life you’ve always dreamed of living.
You get one chance at life.
Let’s make it remarkable.Â
Time to begin.
